Behind the Filth
Flicker & Filth was born from two things: falling in love and wanting a little more room to be ourselves.
We're Eric and Matthew, two gay men living in the Ozarks. If you've spent any time here, you know it's a place full of contradictions. It's beautiful, creative, welcoming, stubborn, traditional, evolving, and sometimes not especially fond of people who don't fit neatly into a box.
We don't fit neatly into a box.
Long before Flicker & Filth existed, Eric built a small business inspired by the Ozarks—the place we've always called home. When Matthew entered the picture, what started as a relationship quickly became a shared life built around creativity, making things with our hands, and collecting entirely too many ideas.
Somewhere along the way, we realized something was missing.
We loved creating, but we wanted a space where we could be louder. Queerer. Bolder. We wanted a place where our creativity didn't have to be explained, softened, or edited for someone else's comfort. We wanted a brand that reflected the conversations happening around our kitchen table, the art hanging on our walls, the music playing in our house, and the community that has shaped us.
So we made one.
Flicker & Filth is our celebration of queer culture, queer joy, queer humor, queer art, and queer existence. It's a little bold. Occasionally unhinged. Sometimes heartfelt. Sometimes ridiculous. Usually all of the above.
Sometimes that shows up as a candle label that makes us laugh. Sometimes it's a shirt that says the quiet part out loud. Sometimes it's artwork, stickers, or products that simply take up space unapologetically.
None of it is created to blend in.
Everything we make is rooted in the belief that self-expression matters. Especially in places where it isn't always encouraged. Especially for people who grew up learning to make themselves smaller.
This brand isn't about being polished. It's about being honest.
It's about finding beauty in authenticity, humor in chaos, and pride in taking up exactly as much space as you deserve.
Queer. Bold. Unhinged.
Not just a tagline. A pretty accurate description of the people behind all of this.
Thanks for being here.
Now go make the neighbors nervous.
